About My Practice
My primary goal as a therapist is to help individuals, couples, and families who feel stuck, either in repetitive, unproductive communication patterns, or in conflicts that threaten their most important relationships. My clientele is largely professional with high-level achievement or aspirations. I like to work with people from all walks of life, but because of my own personal and professional experience and my office locations my practice tends to draw many physicians, attorneys, academics, business people, entrepreneurs, people in finance, and people in the arts – musicians, artists and writers.
I place great value on being a therapist who is first and foremost humane and non-judgmental, a responsive collaborator, helping to uncover people’s strengths, unrecognized needs, new or under-utilized talents and problem solving abilities. I listen closely to the stories clients tell, and respond fully. This way of working – being there – allows most clients to come “unstuck,” to make key decisions to better their lives, and accomplish their personal and relationship objectives. People say I have a pretty decent sense of humor, the patience of Job, and can handle a crisis should one arise.
I see individuals and couples struggling with relationship issues such as poor communication, drifting apart, disagreements about raising children, disagreements about in-laws or friends, infidelity, serious illness, the prospect of separation or divorce, or adult children and their parents; I also see young adults starting out, individuals of all ages seeking to repair or recover from a relationship cutoff, or single men and women having difficulty finding a mate. Additionally, my background in career counseling is useful to clients trying to sort out work related problems, dual career stress or achieve a better balance between work and home.
